Eligibility Criteria

  • Focus Areas: Startups must have solutions in AI for Regulatory Compliance, Open Banking & India Stack, Sustainability & Green Finance, or Recommender Systems.
  • Startup Stage: Eligible startups should have a viable product or prototype; ideation-stage startups are not eligible.

Prerequisites for Participants

Laptop Requirements

  • RAM: 8 GB (16 GB recommended).
  • Storage: 100 GB free space.
  • Operating System: Windows 10/11, macOS, or Linux.

Virtual Machine Software

  • VirtualBox (free) or VMware Workstation Player (free for non-commercial use).

Installation Instructions

  • VirtualBox: Download from the official website and follow the installation wizard to install.
  • VMware Workstation Player: Download from the official website and follow the installation wizard to install.

Virtual Machine Image

  • The organizers will provide a VM image with pre-installed tools and identical specifications.
  • Ensure you have the VM image downloaded from the link provided by the organizers before the event.

Network and Security

  • Disable any unnecessary network services that might interfere with VM performance (e.g., file-sharing applications).
  • Install antivirus software and ensure it’s up to date.

Pre-event Preparations

  • Test Your Setup: Run the VM and test some basic password-cracking exercises to familiarise yourself with the environment.
  • Backup Your Data: Before the event, backup any important data from your laptop to prevent data loss. Ensure your VM image is also backed up in case of corruption or failure.

Demo Day and pitching event at T-Hub
  • Date: September 5, 2024
  • The top 5 startups will be announced based on innovation, feasibility, and relevance to the Hackathon themes on the demo day.
HSBC Global Summit & Pitching Event
    • Date: September 16, 2024
    • Location: HSBC, Hyderabad
    The top 2 startups will present their refined solutions to a distinguished panel of judges at the HSBC Global Summit in Hyderabad. This event will culminate in the selection of the winning teams, who will receive cash prizes and branding opportunities.

  • The HSBC Technology India Data Hackathon 2024 is a competitive event to foster innovation in financial technology. Startups are invited to present their solutions in key areas such as AI for Regulatory Compliance, Open Banking & India Stack, Sustainability & Green Finance, and Recommender Systems for Banking Products.

The Hackathon is open to startups with innovative solutions that align with one or more of the Hackathon’s focus areas. Teams or individuals from any location are welcome to apply.

  • You can apply by submitting your proposal here between August 26, 2024, and September 2, 2024. Your proposal should focus on one or more of the Hackathon’s key sectors.
  • Applications Open: August 26, 2024
  • Applications Close: September 2, 2024
  • Demo day & Finalists Announced: September 5, 2024
  • Global Summit & Pitching Event: September 16, 2024
  • Startups will be evaluated based on innovation, feasibility, and relevance to the Hackathon themes. The top 2 startups will be shortlisted and invited to present their solutions at the HSBC Global Summit.
  • Winners will have a chance to win prizes upto ₹ 3 Lakhs.  In addition, all finalists will gain mentorship from HSBC leadership and have the opportunity to showcase their solutions on a global platform.
  • The Global Summit & pitching event will be held at HSBC in Hyderabad on September 16, 2024. During this event, finalists will present their solutions to a panel of judges.
  • There is no fee to apply or participate in the Hackathon. However, participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses for the Global Summit & pitching event in Hyderabad.
